Just got NEW MEYER Hatchery cataloge. They have NEW Marans!!!!

They are great to deal with. I've gone to the hatchery for pickup.

My guess is that the higher price of small orders includes a warmer pad or "packing peanuts."

Not only do they lay brown eggs, but there are feathers on them.

I ordered a small order from Meyer last fall - six chicks. Yes, it came with a heating pad. It was basically like the toe warmers you use when skiing. I had ordered seven chicks. They forgot to ship one. All six chicks that made it into the box were happy and healthy on arrival. If a chick was going to not make it, I'm glad it was due to lack of shipping rather than death in the box. Meyers gave me a refund for the chick they omitted.

This spring, I am going to either order a full 25, or another small order. If the former, I will be selling extras locally.

Same here. Ordered an EE with my brood and they didn't ship her. But they didn't charge me, either, and I'm very sure I told the woman over the phone that I wanted an EE. She even repeated my order back to me to omit confusion. So I ended up with only 7 chicks. All were happy and healthy, just the same.

Meyer charges extra for shipping on their small order program because

1. shipping is upgraded to Express
2. extra nesting material is placed in the box for padding
3. a heat pack is added for warmth
4. gro-gel supplement is included for hydration

They go the extra mile to ensure your chickies arrive safely!

We placed our order with Meyer's today. I am so excited! My first chickens!

I could not make up my mind, so we got practically one of every variety.

10 meat birds, and 16 assorted layers (nine different breeds). I assume I won't really get all the layers I ordered, - due to possible losses in shipment and a few that turn out to be roosters. Can't wait to receive them! (not until May).
