When we decided to get chickens, it was A. For the eggs and B. for my daughter's 4H project. I had no idea that I would fall completely in love with them. I seriously can't get enough of them. My husband and non chicken owning friends think I'm so weird. Sometimes in the evening I just go out to the coop by myself (no kids, no hubby) and watch them. Its so relaxing and intriguing. They all have different little personalities. My little Millie Fleur is so friendly and wants to be held. Now that we're getting eggs, my 2 yr old son wakes up every morning with only that on his mind: go get "his baby eggs". Its been a great thing for my family. Has taught my daughter more about responsibility and has made me feel so happy.
I know, maybe I am a little weird. How can strange little birds be so fascinating. I think its safe to say I'm addicted...and there will probably be more chicks in my future. My husband will have a cow if I ask him to expand our "Taj MaChicken Hal" as he refers to it, but its worth it!
