Just hatched chickens

    Oh my, I really didn't think it would happen but I have my first chicken and now I am a nervous wreck. I feel it is too cold but they have a heat lamp.

    Yes it is digital and is also my humidity checker for the incubator. will transfer it to the brooder.

    Gorgeous! I give mine a hot water bottle if I think they need a bit of extra heat.

    Have a thermometer under the light and keep it 90-95 degrees for the first week (lowering it by 5 degrees each week after till they are room temp ready). You will know if they are good by how they position themselves in the brooder. If you have the light at one end, they can move in and out of it's warmth as they need. However, if you have a pile up of chicks under the lamp and they are loud and seem unhappy, then they most likely are cold and need it warmer. They are pretty good at taking care of themselves temperature wise as long as they have the heat needed to get under.
