I am Bet and just joined in to help with answers if I can. I will have a few questions myself later on. I use to own a yard full of Rode-Island Reds. My little girl, (at the time when she was only age four,) had gathered our hens up in her arms from the back caged area and carried them one by one upstairs to her bedroom. I was washing dishes so I didn't know what was going on till some clacking from the birds. Their squawking came through loudly from the walls.
Since leaving that house and moved to another state, I focused on work to raise my children. Years later, determined to live in the country again, we packed up everything and moved back to Tennessee. I don't have a coup or place safe enough to keep chickens, however, if I did I would look into the possibility of having Reds again and obtain a small flock of Wyandottes and Jersey Giants but only females, (as males are more aggressive.) These types of birds are people friendly, they're vocal, and make good pets.

Nice to meet you. Thank you. :) This site will be fun.
What a sweet story!! 😍🥰 That sounds like something my youngest son did-
He though it would be a good idea to sneak a duckling into his bed!! 🤢 Didn't take long for him to change his mind!! 😂
Thanks for joining our flock!!
That is so adorable DiYMama, we gotta luvit. :) You're welcome. Thank you for the greeting.

Hello, Bet, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
That's a surprising way to learn you have chickens in the house.
I once had to bring a pullet in to give her a soak to clean her up and had her tucked under my arm. I walked into the bedroom where DH was folding laundry and just stood in the doorway with the chicken waiting for him to look up. When he finally did and jumped a little when he noticed the chicken under my arm. Not something you see every day in this house and that was the first time!
