Hi All,

We recently bought a farmette in Northern Virginia and are picking up some pullets tomorrow. We got a cute little coop this weekend on CL and will be getting six 5 weekers tomorrow. I have to run out to the feed store later to get organized!! I know I need a feeder, waterer, feed, grit and scratch, and some bedding of course.

Any tips for the travel? I have about an hour's drive. Was going to take my two cat carriers to get them - is that sufficient?

Any other last minute advice?

Thanks, looking forward to sharing stories about our flock

Thanks! We have put the coop in our orchard so there are plenty of trees to shade the area. We will be free ranging but the coop itself has lots of locks and seems very secure. The people we got it from have a large flock nearby and didn't have any issues with predators so we are hoping for the same :)

I was planning on keeping them in the coop for 2-3 weeks before letting them out, and when I do starting with shorter time periods, does that sound about right?

! Great to have you on our flock! Liz gave you some great advice on the coop security! Best of luck and enjoy your flock!
