Bobcats are protected in NJ so i suppose they did relocate him - hopefully far far away. No further incidents, but then we've been really careful about making sure the coop is secure. Lesson learned!!

Exactly what I was thinking... I had no idea they lived in NJ. I'm not far from Phila and we had a large cat lurking in the woods a few years ago but it disappeared; we never figured out what it was. Only a handful of people saw it but a few were right in my neighborhood. It was pretty scary. The police never believed there was one around and didn't do anything about it. We always assumed it was a cougar but it could have been a bobcat. Luckily it left on its own.
