Just ordered from My Pet chicken

Thanks for the help!

My wife has them in the car right now, they are all alive and peeping like crazy with the heat turned up all the way in the car. She is buying the feed, pine shavings, waterer, feeder and heat source right now. I am sure they will be ok, but I am not happy that I will be missing the first two weeks of thier lives.

I checked my account with MPC and they have under the notes that they were suppose to be shipped the week of march 17. I guess Meyers just didn't listen to the note.

They are suppose to email you the day they are going to ship and they didn't do that either.

I am sure the screw up is with Meyers because the notes are showing with my account but MPC is the reponsible party just the same.

I am not sure yet but my wife thinks they added an extra chick to the order, but she didn't want to keep the box opened too long to count to keep heat in.

When ordering chicks, make sure that you notify the post office that you will be getting chicks. At my second visit to the pickup center (just to make sure they had my phone no.) I told them to call me as soon as they arrived, chicks usually arrive on the first mail delivery, this is before 5 am. They had planned on waiting for a civil hour to call, and I told them to nix that and just call me.

The peeps all seem to be health and I will post pictures if I can figure it out.

MPC offered a refund onthe shipping since Meyers shipped too early. They have great customer service!

I ordered 5 chicks from MPC, got them on Tuesday. All happy & healthy and 1 extra. So far I'm happy with them, all went according to plan.

I got my chicks directly from meyer it seems cheeper and safer with no middle man. there service was great they have the same small order program they do not have all the breeds MPC has but that was fine with me. I got my pullets in october and they are looking great and I should be getting my first eggs soon.

Good Luck with your chicks post pics soon.

Well, I just had an unfortunate order from them. We ordered 5, they sent 6. 1 DOA and 3 more died within 2 days. However the USPS took 2 full days to deliver them and the heat pack was still a little warm.

I don't blame MyPetChicken at all, in fact they refunded the cost of the whole thing when they heard about the big losses. I'd order from them again, except I think our post office (Oakland) is such a huge beaurocracy that the chicks languish before you can pick them up.

I ordered from Meyer directly. Ordered 7 and they threw in an extra of the same gender and type I'd already ordered (didn't want or need any 'males for warmth' like other hatcheries throw in). With shipping and everything I think it ended up being about $55 if I remember correctly. The shipping was more than the cost of the chicks.

Knowing what I know now (about how addicting chickens can be) I should have just ordered 25 and been done with it - that seemed like SO MANY chickens before, but now not so much...

At any rate, I was extremely pleased with Meyer's customer service, packing and delivery. The heat pack was still very warm when I got them on a Tues morning. I believe they were shipped on Monday.

I'd definately order again from Meyer.

Through My Pet Chicken, 8 chicks shipped from Meyer (plus two free same sex = 10 chicks total) plus shipping to Maine came to $64. (And that includes several more-expensive ones like Welsummers.) So it's a little bit of a markup but not horrendous. Since we're splitting the order with another family that helped make the shipping/heating pad cost a lot more affordable. Their customer service has been fantastic so far.
