They shipped fine...we lost 1, and had to put one down at a later date cos of illness, but out of 9 ordered we have 7 VERY healthy happy girls. They box was very sturdy that they arrived in, and they were packed extremely well.

I plan to order from them again

I was very happy with the chicks I got from MPC as well. They shipped on the 21st of August and arrived on the 22nd, which is pretty good considering that they had to go all the way across the country. All of mine arrived is great shape, and except for three I lost to accident. Three have recently started laying, and I expect the others to start any day now.
I also really liked their customer service, and how user-friendly their website was. If I had to place another small order, I'd do it through them.
On the other hand, if I'd know how (relatively) easy it is to raise chicks, and how easy it is to sell point-of-lay pullets for a good price in my area, I would have gotten 25 and flipped the ones I didn't want.

A friend and i are splitting a small order of ten chicks. We originally wanted to buy from MPC, but when Meyer was said to be cheaper, we looked there. The bill for Meyer would have been $78, while the bill for MPC is going to be about $67.

Hi,

Just an add on to the topic.

I ordered three pullets from Chickens for Backyards. Two Americaunas and one GLW. All arived on the specified date, and in excellent shape.
All are thriving and healthy. However, of the three hens, two were roos. (Hey, it happens.)

I sent an email with pictures and asked them to please nix the refund and just send me more hens. (I had found a home for the roos . )
They were very apologetic , very professional and very helpful. And they returned my emails/calls. They will be sending a replacement order in the spring.
I'm fine with that and surprised, as their policy is to refund partial cost of the birds or something to that effect..

I can't recommend these guys enough.
Bend over backwards service!
Small orders and healthy birds.
I wish more companys took this sort of attitude when it comes to service!
