Just ordered from My Pet chicken

It is expensive for shipping, but my order last spring was very healthy. I got 2 BO's, 2 EE's and 2 Silkies, plus 1 silkie extra. All survived. I thought MPC was very good about sending e-mails and keeping in contact. It is expensive, but if you want a small order of healthy babies, MPC is a good way to go. The ones I ordered as girls are all girls, have laid eggs all winter.

One EE did get pasty butt at about 1 week, but I nursed her back to health.

A friend ordered from MPC on my recommendation, got healthy babies that grew up healthy & happy. Candee has also been happy with her MPC experience.

I think it is so great that there are a variety of sources out there to get chicks from.
The market has provided places where we can get any breed in any amount. I think the price we pay is relative to our needs. So many choices..So many chickens!

In my opinion, it is all relative. $61 bucks will buy three hardback books, a movie and cheap dinner for two, one tank of gas, and on and on. If it is what you want, get it. But mind you, this is being said from a woman that just spent $65 on ONE pullet to be shipped.

Can anyone tell me the manufactor's name on the heat pak? I wanted to be certain that it is NOT a handwarmer thing which only last ten hours at best.

I doubt it is that. When I ship fish I use a 60 hours heat pack. This one might be a 40 hour one. I bet if you call they could tell you.

I didn't ask about the heat pack, but they said they get their chickens from Meyers. They let me change the buff polish hen to a golden laced Polish hen and they said they could ship the week of March 17 as long as Meyers has the chicks then. Thier service seems to be very good.

I am very angry with My Pet Chicken. When I ordered them I requested that they ship my order the week of March 17. Well, the post officed called saying there are chickens there for us. Normally I would be excited, but I told them the week of March 17 for a reason. I am away for travel for two weeks and my wife is a school teacher, which is very hard for her to get off work. She could not find a sub this morning but the main office is calling for her. We are completely not ready for them today. We have no food, the booder is not ready, no pine shavings and we don't have a good heat source.

I am very very very angry. A lot of the time when I travel I bring my wife with me which would have left no one to pick them up. She is on the way to post office now so I do not know if they are alive or not, I will post again.

I have no idea why My Pet Chicken screwed me like this. I will be contacting their customer service later today to express my displeasure.

I'm sorry about that modena ~ maybe you could find someone local to take the chicks or keep them for you until you get back from vaca? I think I'm too far away or I would brood them for you guys until you got back.

Uh-oh. I am sure it was simply a mess-up. They were moving last week and that might have caused some disruption. It also could have been a mess-up on Meyer's end, although of course if you're ordering through MPC they are ultimately responsible...

I also ordered from MPC and was told March 17 was the ship date: I HOPE that I don't get a call from the P.O. today as well!

Keep us updated as to how the chicks do and how MPC responds to this...
