I would suggest getting them at a better time, although I do not always take my own advice here. It is not fun to dress out a chicken when temps are in the 90's. Now would be a good time because the fall is the easiest time of year to butcher an animal... winter and early spring are not too bad either. Summer ... not so much fun. But its not impossible or a requirement to time it out with the seasons.

Lol for sure I dont want to be doing the dirty work during the summer, that's why I figured I would get them early next year so by early spring I could take care of it during cooler temps and less flies.

We just picked up straight run regular breed chicks yesterday! So cute, but not for eating.

Next month we pick up our meat chicken order- that way we butcher in mid-October.

Enjoy the chicks- they will be tasty! We did first batch last year, wondering if all the poop and smell were going to be worth it and if the meat would be THAT much better than store chickens. Yes, yes they were!! So we do it again this year!
