I just put 12 home grown eggs in the incubator, 9 are from my 3 tux hens with heavy white and my solid scarlet (?) Big Red. I’m hoping to work my way toward scarlet tuxes and pandas. I have 3 eggs from general pop from a female who lays these matte light blue eggs with no gravelly residue or spots, I’m hoping it’s a gene and not some reproductive defect, the eggs have been normal looking inside, shells are just as hard.

You can see in the pic how smoothe they are, the others are shinier. None of the original eggs I bought looked like this. I thought at first it was new egg weirdness from a young hen, but it’s been the same every day for a couple weeks now.

2 developments, I think we had a brief power failure, and my turner stopped sometime last night and I didn’t notice until this afternoon, and I reset it. I think they’ll be ok, they only missed maybe 15 hours of turning max on day one. Last hatch I didn’t start the turner until 48 hours after I set them because the air cells were shaken a bit in transit and the breeder told me to let them be still for a couple days.

I moved the breeder pen next to the big pen so they can see each other and get reacquainted, however Big Red and my Tibetan male Aragorn started acting very aggressively thru the cages, pecking their cages, pacing, strutting, crowing etc. I may have to cull Red if he can’t return to general pop, so I added his eggs from today from his girls into the incubator, I have 15 in there now. I still have 2 red girls, but they are more to the roux dilute coloring, and he is a more vibrant and dark scarlet. I guess time will tell, perhaps they will settle down with a few days of being neighbors.

I hope the power failure didn't affect your eggs to much! I candled my eggs today and can't believe how wonderful it is to see movement/growth! Amazing!
It only flashed, my clocks weren’t off, but if power restarts I guess the turner resets to not being on. Since it was so early on, I was really relieved to see them alive, little movements, all that. I put 3 in after the power issue, and they look almost the same, I think no harm was done.

What day are yours on?

I played around with the pics after I took them, apple does that Live Photo, then in edit I can choose the frame that looks best, worked great for eggs! I took a video with the fetus moving and swirling, fluttering, but I don’t have YouTube set up and its a real hassle haha.

Definitely, I’m aiming for some dirty tuxes that look like red pandas (the animals), I have a Rosetta like that but dark, who I call Mihawk(I was SURE she was gonna be a boy). I think I will breed these babies with my next planned hatch from my red females, Mihawk, and Tiger Millionaire, my pharaoh tux roo. I’m hoping that future breeding will give me a wide range of red pied markings.
