Just rescued a lot of chicks from chicken houses....Help, please

I also thought they look like Cornish Rock. We had one that couldn't even walk normally, and one that was as big as a turkey. We think we did them a favor by slaughtering them. It was painful to watch them suffer.

After seeing the pictures on different websights of the conditions they live in, I really was appalled.

What a wonderful thing you've done! I'm always haunted by the look in the eye of birds that are just rescued out of these kinds of situations.

A couple of weeks ago I was behind a semi that was packed with chicken cages. It was 13 degrees out and there were tarps just barely covering those poor birds and the truck was going 65 mph. I doubt they all made it alive to the processing plant. It made me sick. Feathers were flying everywhere.

I haven't been able to eat chicken since. I doubt I ever will again. Chickens are treated so cruelly prior to being butchered and it's about time something was done about it.

Thanks for the update - the survivors look fantastic!

They are rocking and rolling!

And so tame! They'll let you pet them like a puppy dog would...and they hang out with the sheep and goats now....

I'm very pleased with their progress.

They've slimmed down and are very active....

What a beautiful pic of your girls. My daughter hated dresses let alone them being pink. At 20 y/o she still hates the color pink! You did a wonderful thing with those chickens. I give individuals that raise their own chickens for eating a lot of respect, at least theirs were cared for and lovingly (sp) raised before their time came to an end. As for the smell I know what you mean. It horrible and indescribable!
