Just saw a fox lurking... what do I do??

If you don't have a dog, ask a friend that has a male dog to come over and walk it around the perimeter of the property. Let it mark all around, it may act a a deterrent, at least until you get an electric one. Or build a bigger enclosed run.

You can also purchase wolf urine, but it must be reapplied often.
May towns do not allow electric fencing or fireworks/firecrackers.

My foxes patrol frequently, and I don't mind if they do. I only take care of them if they start stalking or attacking the coop.

In fact, we caught one on the game camera last night hunting field mice around the run.

We live in town. We have fox. Fox come out day and night. I have an air rifle as well as a .22 rifle. Air rifle has worked thus far to keep fox from entering warm zone near barn. If it ceases to work, .22 may come into play. I am an animal lover but I love my animals first.

I agree electric wire is the best deterrent.

Look into your city laws, out here anything harming your livestock can be killed, except for endangered species etc. Granted this is in the country, but your state or county may have the same law which could entitle you to have animal control come out, or have someone come out and permanently take care of it. You may be able to find a trapper who would be willing to come out and get rid of it

I love the way the hens go back out as if to say "ya, that's right, who's the big bad butt now. That's right! We are. Weeny fox! You run away, and keep runnin' !" :lau
Actually the first video is a coyote, but I have a fox roaming around that I usually see most nights on one of my game cameras.

I have kids in the yard all the time so I don't think electric fencing is an option. I don't know much about it though. We are in the middle of the city so shooting is not such a viable option. Maybe I'll try some of that urine. as an added deterrent. We see foxes all over the place so I think that trapping/killing is just going to be a game of whack-a-mole.
