I can hardly wait!

The hen I hatched out from eggs from ABC came from Holderread too and she started laying on the eve of her 6 month birthday. That was in the summer though. I was really hoping they'd do the same in the dead of winter, as mild as it has been here. The artic winds have totally skipped us this year... daffodils are coming up! In February!

I want my welsh harlequin to start laying! I want babies! They are almost 6 months! Why aren't they laying? Any ideas why?

6 months is about the time they start laying. So give them a little more time. Check for some eggs often though cause they should start laying soon!!! Good Luck!

Well I candeled last night and I only had to take out about 4 that looked like blood ring or they just didnt develope. And I had to take an egg out in the middle of the egg turner when I put the thermometer in so im down to 36 eggs!

Im not sure why the pekin eggs didnt develope but my guess for the muscovy would be that you need to have a hen incubate them next time. Muscovy eggs are almost impossible to artificially incubate. The first 2 weeks of incubation they should be incubated by a female duck. Not sure why. But after the first 2 weeks you can take them and hatch them yourself. One of my firends that raises and sells muscovies told me she always has her hens sit on the eggs because of this. Sorry to hear that they didnt develope!! Good luck with the 2 that are developing

out of 21 eggs only 2 are developing. im pitching the rest.
