Just set my eggs... UPDATE: They're hatching!

all three eggs have veining and a black glob, but one looks "different"........may have lost that one. We'll see. Due date 7/19

My broody quit her nest, after a day of thunderstorms so, now all of the eggs are in my incubator. I plan on candling, and starting lockdown Sunday. The broody's eggs should start hatching Wendesday, if they make it to lockdown. I'm not sure how long her eggs were uncovered before I found them, but they were cold. I candled them before, I added them to the bator, saw development, but don't know if they were alive. Figured I'd give them a chance, and haven't looked at them again. The eggs I started in the incubator, are due to hatch Friday.....

Hopefully a early lockdown won't hurt them?

you scared me............had a thunderstorm today and my broody hen came out for about 30 minutes to eat ect. Afraid she wasn't going back in. but she did! Candled inside eggs. all seems to be okay. how is everyone else doing?

Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. Glad your broody had more nerve than mine did. Veronica decided to sit outside of the henhouse, so thats why she couldn't stand the storms. She's a banty, and likes to do things "her" way.

I'm getting excited about lockdown, and watching these babies come out of the eggs!

So far, so good over here. I've been having a little trouble maintaining humidity, so I have a cool mist humidifier in the same room and keep the door shut. I've got to figure out what we're going to do for humidity during lockdown... I got the rubber mesh shelf liner to put over the wire mesh, and I'm thinking of hatching in a paper carton. I wish the danged well was easier to see, though. I can get the middle well okay with the aquarium tubing, but judging how much water is left is hard.

I've been resisting the urge to candle the eggs. If I could I'd watch the little buggers all the time. I did check my egg from the splash w/ whit pen, and it is so cute to see its little foot press up against the egg.

last candle for me tonight on my chicken eggs then in to lock down for them out of 10 chicken eggs i have 6 are alive and ready to pop hopefully and my 10 runners go in to lock down next monday

I just started lockdown!

I took the turner out. Filled the reservoirs, and put the screen in. I put cheese cloth over the screen, and added a wet sponge. I put the sponge under a vent hole so I can add water if needed.

I candled, and am down to 19 eggs, 5 the hen started, and 14 that I started. 3 of my eggs seemed behind in development, but I think I saw movement, so they went in too .All of the eggs recieved an X and O, and were placed X up, so that I can tell if they move. I also placed the eggs in order acording to date, so I can see which hatch first....Now the check the incubator 30 times a day, horrible, I'm so excited, waiting begins!

This will be a staggared hatch because, Veronics's eggs are due Wednesday, and mine are due Friday.

Anyone else as eggcited about your aproaching due dates, as I am ? Good luck everyone

i get very excited but i dont want to this time as i havent had much luck the last times they all died in lockdown/during hatch but fingers crossed good luck every one

My first hatch was horrible. I set 32 eggs, and only had 13 hatch.They piped on day 22. I had lots of early quitters, I think a power outage may have caused it, but don't know. My second go was better, 10 out of 15. This time for me isn't looking great so far, I started with 27 eggs and have tossed some each candling, 8 total.

ok so 6 chicken eggs went into the hatcher last night after the last candle and i have just noticed that the egg labeled number 8 is wiggling all over the place and may even have a pip as there is a raised area in the shell with some liquid around it not long now funny thing is since i saw him moving a cant stop looking in on him every time i walk passed lol
