It's always a crapshoot when we order straight run. Hopefully, there will be more females than drakes. And up to you if you want to order more but after you get these up to sexing size you can always make that decision if you need to add more females.
Did you ask on the Mich forum if anyone had ducklings for sale?

I didn't ask in the Michigan page, only because one day while driving in my small town, I saw a Purina Logo on a building and it was a feed store that I didn't know was there. So they were real helpful and they have Khaki Campbells for $4.80/ea. I can't beat that. When they arrive, I'll see if they have any extra from cancellations or no shows. If they don't, I have enough room to separate.

Meeting with a Surgeon today in Green Bay to talk about nerve damage in my right leg/foot. I don't think there's anything they can do since it's all stemming from a 34 year old back surgery that caused the right leg amputation. Dead nerves don't heal. You have to grow new ones at a slow snails pace, but when Medicare says you have to go through the motions, you have to do it without question.

Look forward to seeing your littles when they arrive!!

Okay, I've started to plan for Winter Ducks already. I'm building a heated circulating watering system with a small pump, autofill and PVC pipe with nipples. Not ideal for Ducks since they need to mix food and water, but I like trial and error because I always learn something. I'm also planning a raised floor on hinges, for cleaning, with hardware cloth to put water bowl and mat type heater on. I don't know if it will work, but I want to try using the heated grow mats 10"x 20" under water bowl and food dish.

Dang it! I have to get out in the old garden today, and turn it into a Duck run. I keep getting distracted and a little lazy, but I need to finish some fencing, get some more venting in the Duck House, and GET MOVING! I'm building a runway between the old garden and a nice run on the side of the house which should provide some bugs. I'll put a gate in there because I won't let them over there unsupervised. One day I found the biggest slug there. I bet they would've made a feast out of that thing.

I've learned to read the ingredients of my own feed, but until today was reading what I will be feeding my ducklings.
I will be adding Nutritional yeast to this chick starter;
