Two years ago, after living all my life in uptown New Orleans, I moved to a little town called Harahan, about 7 miles from the wild city. I always wanted to grow tomatoes and other vegetables, so I started my garden. The next logical step seemed to be chickens.The only chickens I had been around were the feral street chickens in the city.I have been taking pics of them and will post soon. The city council declared the rooster a nuisance in 2012 but but they still rule the streets. I thought the chickens were cool, so i decided to get some. I did a little research, and I decided to get two Brahmas, and Two Rhode Island Reds to start. I called a feed store in Covington La.,and a month later I had my four chicks. They are Priscilla & Sophia , the Light Brahmas,and Bootsie & Lipps, the RIR's. they are much more than I anticipated. They each have their own personality, and they are very interesting to observe.
