Just walked out back and 3 coons were trying to get in the coop.

That's what I use to dispatch trapped "varmits", the 22CB long/short. I use a standard 22 LR for other "on the fly" uses.

Great shooting, as to using a .22 in an urban setting I would highly recommend against it. It's not so much the noise, you can shoot from inside the house out an open window and it is unlikely that anyone will know where it came from even if they do hear it. That little projectile is very light and can be very unpredictable if it does not hit what you were aiming for. Not such a big deal in the country, when you are close to your neighbors, it could be a big problem. One thing to consider is a cross bow, you can mount a scope on it and there are a variety of heads to mount to the arrow depending on what you want to do. Just don't be surprised if you have to follow up with a quick blow from an implement to finish it off.

Good job.........yes this time of year mommy coon still teaching the young were to find the easy meal.

Also a 22 is big enought to kill a coon in a trap, single shot....

Well in this case I was using CCI Velocitators in my 22 and it is a 36 grain hollow point. First one was head shot second chest and third chest. I did go over to the other two that were chest shots and put one in each of their heads just to end any suffering. Even though they were after my babies it is not right to let them suffer. Those little velocitators are very deadly. Move so fast and break apart so easy.
