This sounds all too familiar. I too was done incubating for the year with fall and winter just around the corner. However, I traded a gal some buff silikies for some blues and black that were in with a partridge roo and I thought I just had to see what those chicks would look like so into the incubator they went. They are set to hatch Friday.
Then one of the silkies decided to go broody and since I've never had a broody before I put some eggs under her. Looks like I'll have chicks in the basement half the winter
Day 14 already! Wow, how the time flies when it's not yourself incubating! The time always seem to drag for me then. Hopefully, in a week the rest hatch and give you some cute little fuzzy butts to spoil until they are picked up! You do deserve some good news around there!
Today is Day 19 for Glenda. She's done very well for her first time. Hope she's a good mom, at least till the babies go to their new home. I feel terrible taking them all away from her. Maybe I should leave her one chick to take care of, huh?
I hear you Glenda! I had a 16-chick surprise 2 weeks ago, and am holding my breath that those banties don't decide to set yet again (this is their 3rd and 4th nest of the summer).
Best of luck!
