You guys I found pictures of Phoenix my partridge Silkie rooster! My memory did not do him justice and makes me so angry I lost him to predators. Talk about opening old wounds. I should have never went digging. He was so beautiful.

The “roundness” of his tail is interesting.
I feel like he has Cochin in him.
You said he’s not much bigger than your hens?
Bantam Cochin maybe. At least somewhere in his background.
He’s amazing though.
A fine fellow! I’d be proud to own a guy like him. :love

Your Phoenix was beautiful!
I’m so sorry you lost him. :hugs
I have a little Partridge Silkie that I got from TS.
I’m excited to see what he looks like grown up.
His name is Peanut.

To OP: your roo looks like he could have scaly leg mites. Hard to tell in the pic, but the scales on distal front shanks look suspect. I would treat him just to be on the safe side.
Oh I’ve never heard of that nor do I know how long he may have had it. I haven’t had him very long either. What kind of problems will that cause him? I know he has some string wrapped on his foot that I need my husbands help to get it off. When I first took him he had been hurt by another rooster and he had a limp.

If he has string wrapped on his foot, that can be a medical emergency which can lead to abscess, gangrene, or loss of his leg due to circulation being restricted. Please tend to that right away. The scaly leg mite can be treated with 2 - 3 weekly applications of any type of oil (mineral, vegetable, even vaseline) to the legs. The mites can be spread to your other birds, so you should treat all the birds.

Can scaly leg mites be causing him pain?!
