Just wondering about my rooster

I’m having some chicken wrangling kids coming and help me with the string. I have olive oil and coconut oil and I can put that on his legs for now. I was just wondering if it hurts his legs because it seems he was kinda sore even before he stayed with me. It may have gone unnoticed and untreated for a while.

Just get him treated and he should be fine.
Okay I got the string off and slathered his legs in coconut oil I’m going to look further into it. The previous owners daughter said he’s never had that much red in his feet and remember the summer of 2016 when they got him I always thought his feet looked scary. It might explain some of his limping.

"No bird has more than four toes except chickens of the Dorking, Faverolle, Houden, Sultan, and Non-bearded Silkie Bantams, all of which have five toes. In these breeds the extra toe arises above the base of the hallux and projects upward, never touching the ground. In the Silkie, the extra toes often lie nearly in the same plane as the hallux. "

The last I I posted this I was told that Bearded Silkies have 5 toes as well. Looks like a cross.

the spike on his head seems to indicate maybe a Houdan cross.

My bearded Silkie’s had the five toes but I did read non bearded on the internet and the lady I got them from got hers from a lady in the area who raises show Silkie’s. I called her by chance inquiring about Silkie hatching eggs and told her where I had got my Silkies and she remembered her by name. I’m going to look at all your links right now!
