No. If they're broody, they will be happy to sit on golf balls, rocks, or an empty nest.

So I have some hens that will attack my broody hens, and I'm just wondering what I can do about that.

So I am wondering if it is better to buy chicks than full grown hens

Be warned that if you add new chicks with hens that there's a chance the hens will attack and even kill the chicks. Let them see each other but have a barrier to keep them separate until similar size
