That same book states "an eye for an eye"

I personally am sick of wasting taxpayer funds to keep these sickos alive, healthy and happy. At an average cost of $18,000.00 per year to feed and cloth them alone...they are not worth the total cost to keep them alive. Fry em and be done with it. I sat in the gallery at the Ted Bundy execution and I admit that I volunteered to clear out death row...all they had to do was sit em down, strap em in and I would gladly pul the switch. I have no sympathy or mercy for these murdering sickos...NONE.

That same chapter says, "Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death"

It also says, "If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, 21 but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property. "

But God has given governments the authority to carry out capital punishment. It is not for individuals to do.

Rom. 13:1-4 1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

I have no problem executing for the most henious crimes. Where is the deterrent in 3 squares a day, TV, and a weight room? Mild consequences lead to increased crime.

it's very true. i was there and literally fought these bad guys on a monthly basis.
they said (via a translator) nearly the EXACT same thing as some of these previous posts that are pro-death penalty.
and i remember for a FACT they used the phrase "eye for an eye..."
and in fact, sharia law (extreme islam that is widespread there) if you steal, they cut your hand off...and so on.
so you might operate under the guise of Christianity...but I'll tell you what, I've read the Bible, and there's ABSOLUTELY no way Jesus would condone the death penalty.

My belief has nothing to do with religion.. it has to do with making SURE they can never get free again..

AND..its okay for us to disagree..why cant people disagree with respect..
why call people names? come on peole..we ARE allowed to think differently than each other, it dosent make one wrong or right... get a grip here..

Thank you for serving! You are a hero.
I'm not sure that this is why we call them uncivilized. I call them uncivilized because of their fundamental belief that God wants them to kill all non-muslims.
*(best book I've read all year=" Infidel" by Ayaan Hirsi Ali )

I don't know what to believe re the original topic; but it does haunt me that it is so much more expensive to keep a person on death row for so long, and then the costs of the execution are exorbitant.

I agree, they are monsters. So is the man who's sexual appetite destroyed my childhood and a good portion of my adulthood. I will dance on his grave when he dies, but there is no way that I would want to be a party to his death - and I KNOW he's guilty.

I don't hold it against you, but how would you feel if you found out sometime after inserting the needle or pulling the plug that it was the wrong guy? Could you live with that?

Yeah..for a $20 death row shot it ends up costing us a hundred thousand to keep them alive and appeals...or more. My question is..if they wanted to live so badly, why did they take another life??
I also dont have a problem with theives loosing their hand either... Dont steal..you wont have a problem. Pretty simple.

Eye from an eye is from Old Testament though, which passed away with the new testament.. The new testament says "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone". But that doesn't really apply here unless you're Christians i suppose.

ETA: I myself, am on the fence about death row.. But i believe the prison systems could be a lot harder on prisoners than they are and still maintain the "Civilized Country".
