My one hen decided that she wants to become broody today!! She is going to be due in June! She is sitting on 24 eggs! I know that that is a lot of eggs but I breed chickens naturally! I have had I hen that successfully hatched 29 eggs before!!!!!!
Does anyone else have June chicks that wants to join me and my hen????
Cant wait till they all hatch!!!!

I will be putting eggs under my broodys this weekend-that would amke us two weeks out of sync though I think?

My broody bantam's 4 eggs are on Day 9 today! The chicks will be Easter Eggers.

I have never heard of Lavender Faverolles - where did they come from? Sound pretty!

This is my first post. I have 12 Rhode Island Red eggs in my classroom. I set them yesterday (June 5th). This is my second attempt, the first 12 did not develop. I think there was too much time between laying and incubating. Hope things work out this time, I'm really into the project and have learned so much

Mizz welcome to the June Hatch a long! I received my 31 eggs today and they all look in great shape. They go under the broody hens (7) tomorrow!!! Will you be candling them at day 8? How much time elapsed with your first eggs between laying and putting in incubator? Up to 10 days should be viable? Did you crack any of the last ones to see if they had started to form?

What breeds are your broodies? I like my broody bantams, but I do want one that can cover more than 4-5 LF eggs, like an Orpington or standard Cochin.

I have 2 proven mommas: One is a black Orpington and the other is a Iowa Blue/Dorking cross.

Surprisingly I hav a BLR Wyandotte that is sticking to a nest. Then a LF blue cochin and 2 banty cochins (Although the two bantys were off and up on a roost last night-think they have been broody for a couple weeks and are done?) and one banty mix of some sort-buff with feather feet and muffs)
