Meira flew, stretching her little wings, angry at both everything and nothing at the same time. This is so confusing!! She thought, why don't the others understand!??

It was in the afternoon, and the sun was shining. The band of young owls and their advisers all sat together in a group of tall fir trees, preening their feathers, napping, and chatting amongst themselves. Soon, they were going to play a fun hunting game. Tylisia's wings twitched in excitement, and she stretched them. After all the flying she had done so far on the flight, her wings weren't sore that much at all, but they seemed to be aching to feel the gentle breeze beneath them.
The hunting game was a friendly competition between all the young owls that would test their agility, flight strength, stradegic ability, and any other hunting and flying skills they had learned. How it worked, as one of the advisers explained to the group, is that one of the advisers would catch a tiny mouse. He would use his talons and beak to securely tie a bright red thread around the mouse's tail, and he would show it to the young owls for a few seconds. He would then fly back to the ground and let it go on the forest floor, where the trees and bushes were the most dense. It would scuttle away, and they would give it a few minutes to hide. After the few minutes were up, the young owls would all set off at once and whoever found the mouse first, and brought it back to the adviser owl first without harming it would win and then be able to eat the mouse as a reward. The young owls would need to fly fast and be quick-minded, turning and curving and finding their way through the forest while, at the same time, using their keen eyesight and excellent hearing to find the mouse.
But that wasn't all. Once the first owl found the mouse, it wasn't automatically theirs. They had to then fly back to the adviser owls, but the other owls had the right to try and steal the mouse from the owl who has it. But this had to be done without harming one another. If an owl did intentionally injure another owl in an attempt to get the mouse from them, he or she would be disqualified from the game. And, of course, they have to be sure to bring the mouse back unharmed and alive, or else it won't count.

Tylisia couldn't wait for the game to start. She was, in her opinion, quite an excellent hunter and flyer. Although the other young owls she was going up against were as well. She would need to use all her hunting and flying skills she had learned so far, and she couldn't wait. Excitement brewed in her gizzard as a soft breeze rustled through the large fir trees surrounding her.
