Kane is hurt! A vent :/

We checked it over good last night. Couldn't find anything, other than swelling.

Does anyone know the safe amount of aspirin to give a 110 lb. dog?

I'll check right now..i have an animal emergency book..it has all the meds they can safely take..etc... BRB

It says Bufferin..
Use: Pain reliever
For Dogs: 10-25 mg per 2.2 lb , 2 or 3 times a day
Cats: DO NOT USE

Looks like everyone is rushing for their books................

and I cannot find mine.

Our Corso was getting 3, he is about 140 pounds. We cut it back to two and it seem to do the job just fine (he has a bad ACL).

Another thing you can try, is clip the longish hair from the bottom of his foot. Let him soak it for 10-15 minutes and then look at his foot - often the owie will now be a different color or raised so you can see it.

I wonder if he has a thorn/piece of glass/sticker or something shoved into the meat of the pad. Also look at the webbing of his toes - for cracks and such.

Oh Grits,

Sorry Kane is hurt. Seems to me if his paw is swollen, and there is no sign of trauma, then something internal is wrong. Probably need a vet to determine if it is a break, tear etc.

Had a cat once with no use of his back leg. I was sure it was broken, took him into the vet, turned out he had torn out all the tendons in his leg. Probably got the dew claw caught climbing over the fence. Had another with a sore leg, still walking on it. Had a compound fracture. So hard to tell with animals.

Good luck

DH sleeps with a CPAP machine, so he doesn't hear squat.

Kane has been wimpering from time to time, but not outright hollering. He's not jumping up all eager when I say "out" and if there's one thing this boy loves as much as his food, it's going out.
I know this sounds silly, but I can see the pain in his eyes. Plus, when he's resting the foot keeps twitching.

Thanks for the dosage information y'all. I'm going to go give him a snack and some aspirin right now.

Dang y'all. The only aspirin we have in the house is enteric coated.

Can I still give it?

Is that like a Buffered aspirin? Cause my book says to give buffered aspirin ... must be easier on their tummy?
I would call his vet and ask..they will usually tell you yes or no over the phone for a question like that... just to be safe.

Enteric coated aspirin is usually not recommended in animals, it's so hard sometimes they cannot break it down.
