Last week I was cleaning out the lower level of the house and packed up a number of bags of clothes that we no longer use. I dropped the clothes off at our local church charity store and hope that someone gets a good deal on used those used clothes. I don't want to spend any time trying to set up a rummage sale. Just drop the bags off at the clothing drop at the church. What they cannot sell, they offer up for free.
Anyway, I was in that church store today and found a Russian-English dictionary that was in perfect condition. It was a $40.00 dictionary, but I got it for their standard used book price of 25 cents per paperback!
As a languages student, that was a true gift. I like to think it was karma coming back to me for my previous donations last week.
I also picked up a German-English, Italian-English, and Latin-English dictionary for 25 cents each. Those dictionaries were much smaller (college student sized), and older, but still in good condition. I know some people might ask why I would even bother with paper dictionaries when you can look up things online in any language. Well, I guess I'm just old school and thumbing through a paper dictionary looking for your word also exposes you to possible related words above and below your lookup word. That can be a benefit for a language student.
