Kate! Kate to the Nigi help desk!

I love good old fashioned vet's. You can't beat um'.

I am so sorry about Cocoa Miss P. I know you and your DD were excited about the birth. Hopefully she will recover from this and she will be able to kid again

That is such a hard thing to go through. After 7 years of raising pygmy goats I just had to have the first c-section on a doe due to ring-womb last summer. I thought $700 was a great deal here(guess you got away for slightly less!) and they allowed me to stay and help through the surgery which was nice. She recovered really well and was up and about in only a few days, we kept her confined but she wanted OUT! She lost her baby too, one big buck. But after it was all said and done I was just glad to have my girl come out ok. She was retired form breeding.

Sending good healing thoughts for your doe, I hope she makes a quick recovery.

I am so sorry this this wonderful thread ended in such a sad way. I am happy to hear that Cocoa is still healthy!!

I want to wish you and your family condolences for the loss of your doeling and the trauma to Cocoa.

I do have to say that I have learned A LOT about goats, birthing, and lots of other goat trivia in the last five weeks!!! Also so great to see/read how many BYCers were supporting your thread!!! BYC at its best!!!

So very sorry to hear of Cocoa's loss.

We got our mommas for Christmas already bred and like Cocoa, they were under a year old too. Both had big babies and we almost had the same problem with one.

We got 2 doelings and will definitely wait for next fall to breed them.

I hope she will not be sterile as a result of this ordeal. Hopefully she will still be able to experience the joy of kidding with a nice buck her own size once she is well and healed.

We had a little ewe last year that came as part of a flock purchase. She was bred too young, and resulted in a C-section as well, with the loss of the single lamb.

The vet said to breed her this year, as she would likely have smaller twins. She lambed with a good sized single ram lamb, and both are doing beautifully!

She is a wonderful mama, and so content!
May it be the same for Cocoa!
BTW - I have four kids of my own - every other one was a "C"...there is hope for future babies!
