What's involved in raising your own?

Well I need a big container (like a storage tote), substrate, paper egg cartons, fruits and veggies, and food for them to eat- as well as a water source. Not gonna lie but I assumed they could live off the egg carton. Whoops.

Nope. But idk why I didn’t think of the fact that they needed that stuff before. No wonder they were dying! I’d die too!

I've known a few bait shops that raise them, but I've never seen their setup.

For now I have put a moist cotton ball in there (for water) and fish flakes for food. They’re already going towards the food. Maybe they’ll live now I still need to buy more though.

I saw something really cool last night, but didn't have my phone with me to get it on film. We've had migrating birds coming through here the last few weeks, but last night was different. Must have been a blue cloud up there that just blended in. All of a sudden a single line of birds start appearing from pretty high up heading for my trees. Looked like pouring tea out of a picture into a glass. More than a hundred of them... They started out in my oak trees which have very few leaves and then moved into the bamboo and cedars. Small birds, bigger than a finch but smaller than a cardinal. Dark bodies with a grey underbelly.

They were making quite a racket this morning and soon they'll be heading your way.
