That was a long time ago and I was spared the impossible decision. I got a call on a Friday night, Dad had decided he wanted life support shut off. Mom couldn't do it and the medical power of attorney fell to me. I told him that I wouldn't do it over the phone but would fly out there Monday and if that's what he wanted, face to face, then I'd sign the order. The good lord took him on Saturday and spared me that decision.

As for being Rudolf, I don't know what to say. That's good and bad. The good is they obviously care, the bad is they don't listen so well.

Isn't amazing how that works out, sometimes? Your Dad was ready, but needed to know that you were, too. It's as if he needed permission to let go and go home. My FIL was the same way. He needed to know that everyone would be okay. Even from his coma, and beyond his doctors' expectations, he waited for us all to be there. Once we assured him that we all had each other, he quietly let go. It was painful, sure, but also very reassuring.

Man, everyone is talking about death today :(
I just accidentally overheard a client talking about whether or not he/she should euthanize his/her beloved gelding who's been in Critical Care for over a week. Due to finances, I believe.

Nope, Nope, Nope. It's not about death, it's about Life moving on and around it, and how faith holds it together - whether it's faith in your creator, faith in your friends, or faith in the four-leggers who love you without reservations. We all move on. Some move beyond the here and now a bit earlier than others, but moving forward without losing faith in others - and ourselves - is what it's all about!

Good morning! Sorry, I wasn't on that much yesterday, I was pretty busy.

Hello!
2 hours into my shift and I'm already flat out of things to do. :th
Just our resident horse under my care today. I was scheduled for two shifts, 12 hours total, today.

How about practicing your mane and tail braiding skills? Depending on how cooperative your charge is being, that can take a while ... but it's a good skill to have. If I hadn't practiced so much when I was your age, how could I ever braid DD's hair quickly enough for her to make the bus on time? (giggles all around, here ... especially from DD!)

*freaks out because I never knew you guys were horse people*

In all seriousness, you could also try liberty with her, like clicker training. Doesn't take that long for them to realize a click = treat. Look it up, pretty fascinating.
