Definitely four chicks under the broodies, still can't get a decent pic and must wear heavy leather gloves if attempting to touch the babies. 3 mom beaks all focused on defending the chicks.

ETA: Just an interesting side note. The really mean and dedicated moms are a Silver Spangled Hamburg over a Del cross. The Hamburg was one of those free rare breed chicks.

My next hatch will very likely not be until February of next year, ducks. In the meantime I will update & post pictures of my previous batches from earlier this year. Also feel free to post anything hatch/Poultry related here as well.

Morning folks

Hopefully I can get pics of the new babies today. The RIW has given up and rejoined the other girls. Mom 2 seems to be caring for the new chicks and let them come out and eat by themselves last night. Mom 3 seems intent on still setting. The new chicks are welcome to crawl up under her or to hang out with Mom 2. What do you think Kayla, should I give mom 3 some more eggs? She was the last to join the broody bunch.

So sweet how they share the babies! How do the babies know to “obey” both moms
