KC question

One of my four KC could fly more than a foot or two above the ground. She was young and light at the time. I clipped one wing and she has not flown since (2 years later). I am sure that now she is too heavy. That same girl gave me an egg almost every day for the first year.
I love my KCs. I was nervous when others said they would be skiddish but they have been great. I did spend a lot of time and treats taming them as babies and they still run to me. My drake doesn’t choose to be held but he gets snuggly if I pick him up.

I have 5 KC my older 2 are two months old and are starting to run around flapping their wings and are starting to catch some air

If you don’t mind my asking which breed do you like better, the Pekin or KC?

I actually prefer the Khakis. My Pekin girls are wonderful BUT they tend to be a bit bossy.

Our KC hen is sassy and she hisses . She is the best layer as in every day for the last couple months. The Pekin is more entertaining and happy to see us. She lays about 4 to 5 eggs a week.

Just found this thread. I laugh as my only Pekin Hen is chatty and THINKS she is the boss (the 4 KC girls (4months) and muscovies) all ignore her! She is by FAR the noisiest and is our morning alarm clock. But - I wouldn't give her up for anything. super entertaining. The KC's are just getting personalities. And the RUN everywhere - don't think walk is in their vocabulary. I tried to "tame" all of mine, but the best I get is they all come running when it is watermelon feeding time
