Don't use ice water for an overheated bird, the shock can kill them, just dunk whole bird up to neck in cool not cold water if suffering from heat stroke. Just so you know.
Ice cubes, no water, in a large but shallow pan can help them keep cool by walking/sitting in it and sipping the slowly melting cubes.
