Hi All,
I am new to the forum. I have enjoyed reading about the different breeds and reading through the different threads. You all give great advice.
In April a friend gave me four chickens. I now have a four laying hens: 1yr old Red star, 11month old Americana and Buff Orpington and an 23 wk old Black Cochin who began laying 2wks ago. I also have 10 week old chicks, 3- Red stars, 3 Black Copper Marans with feathered legs, and 1 Plymouth Rock-( a funny bird). One of the Black Copper Marans whole head is covered with the reddish brown feathers. The rest of her body is the dark brown.

My Family really loves having the chickens. They make us laugh. The eggs are great.

Enough of the Introduction. One of my friends would like to order 6 chicks and wants me to keep them and once they are old enough give her family the eggs. I have the room. They are not able to keep chickens. Have any of you done this before. She will buy feed and all.
I just don't know what else to ask for. I would really love some advice here. I just don't want to start something that is not a good idea.

! I think as long as everything is clear up front and she pays the bills then go for it. However, I would tell her, if at some point she can not pay the feed bills (that can get pretty expensive) then you have the right to the girls to do with as you please. I would also let her know, that sometimes "stuff" happens and they die. I would make it clear that you are not responsible for replacing. Finally, have a back up plan, even if she orders all pullets, there is a chance of getting some Roos. Figure out up front what y'all will do with them. Best of luck!
