Keeping Chickens When You Have Arthritis.

Pics
I use DMSO on our dogs when they have an injury. One of them got clipped and rolled by a pick up truck when she was one year old and escaped the yard. I swear that stuff sped her recovery from a broken pelvis. To this day if she gets good and stoved up, I'll massage a few drops into her back and it seems to give her relief before the Rimadyl kicks in.

If you get it, don't overdo it. A few drops goes a long way.

Also, it's been know to leach colors from clothing and imprint them on your skin. I was advised that if I used it on my lower back or feet make sure to wear white socks and underwear.

Worked on a new brooder today. I love to build things but am coming to the realization that my hands don't like it as much as I do.

Pace. Pace. Pace is the magic word.

I've had good luck with keeping feed in big, plastic stacking bins that seal by flipping up little tabs, like this:

I've been using them a few years now and no mice or rats have chewed through. The black tabs are easier to open or close than the typical rubber or snap top. They come in different sizes.
My favorite food container is the one that’s meant to hold charcoal for your grill.
The company that manufactures them offers them in a see-through version with a different label ( for pet food) at 2-3 times the cost.
Airtight seal with rubber gasket around lid, access lid snaps shut tight.
Holds 32 quarts which is a full big bag of chicken feed minus one 1 gallon hanging feeder fill up. I have a row of these in my garage for chicken feed and two different kinds of dog food.
I keep a big plastic cup in each one for easy scooping.

Whow those are nice. With 50 birds though I'd be forever refilling them. I need to get at least 3 more metal garbage cans so I can move the feed to the coop. Man, that would make life so much easier for me.

I have come to the conclusion that I really need to be aware of 'overdoing it' and correct that behavior in myself. I tend to face life at warp 9. Need to tone it down to sublight speeds, LOL.

Unfortunately my phaser banks always tend to be fully loaded and ready to rock. Just the way I've always faced life. Need to learn to slow down.

@penny1960. Hope you are feeling better this morning and able to breathe easier.

That’s exactly what I use. :)
My picture wasn’t quite clear, I didn’t even know they were made for charcoal haha.
