Keeping Fish

How is your betta, Shelly? I had to cull a Molly yesterday, just a fry. She had her tail snipped off, partly, by a shrimp. They were taken out of the box after this. It was quite sad as she had the most beautiful black and white pattern with spots... She was also growing rapidly. Really was unfortunate. Anyway, I lost a nice breeder...she was from my stock as well.

Leaf

Sorry for the late response. I've been busy and haven't had much to write about... My three are fine, I don't think I mentioned that Orlando passed(RIP T-T). I've been thinking of getting a few more bettas, at least one male, to get started on my lines. Though I'm worried that it may be a little too early to raise fry, so I'll just let the fish get to know one another. When I do get a batch of desirable fry, I'll rehome them along with the parents to save me some space and resources. I'm sorry about your guppy Leaf

Glad to see you back. I usually put down fish without too much problem, but they really do grow on you. Especially that little Molly. Not so much because of her temperament, but her pattern was beautiful and I was so excited to have such a nice looking breeder... It's a shame. My Bettas are all doing well, just cleaned out their bowls a few days ago.

Leaf

Sorry, I mixed up guppy and molly! lol
I just brought home a new betta, who's a cambodian crowntail. It looks like a female, but it flares a lot and swims side by side with my female, nudging her. I can't really explain the behavior, but I'm hoping it's just them meeting or getting territorial(I can always relocate her/him temporarily), and not a male courting with my female! It could be a crowntail plakat, making it's fins short. I'll post a picture when I can get him/her to stay still

I got some pictures of the new fish, but my phone was acting up and I couldn't transfer them here. I left the room for a few minutes, and came back to find the new fish with shredded fins

she's temporarily relocated, and I'll keep her there until she heals and I get more females to balance out aggression. I'll also plant my tank more.

Hello! I'm really happy, I just got a new betta (that makes 3) he is from petco (boo! But they have a great selection, over 300 bettas) so the box he came in said half tail, but he's obviously not. He's the most gorgeous fish ever though, and really big! Here's some pics, I'm guessing he's a half moon double tail betta

Very nice betta! He's really pretty( or I guess handsome since he's a boy). I got my betta from Meijers, and he's kinda plain but he's still pretty. I'll upload pictures later

Thank you! I think he's very pretty as well. I just found out he is a rare Rosetail I call him Galaxy. (His one side is teal, and the other is purple, the purple and teal both bleed into his tail) My other betas, (all male) are a red veil tail and a teal placket

There's some pictures of my betta, I love his blue eyes( blue is my favorite color) and the bottom is my 15 or 20 gallon tank he's in. Ooo that's a really nice name, it really fits him well. Do you have multiple tanks or one big tank with dividers for the males?

I love your veil tail! He's very pretty! I have multiple tanks. My favorite tank (Galaxy lives there) has a bonsi tree in it, with an orchid draping over it (live plants) it's very pretty. Huckleberry, my red veil tail is in a temporary tank at the moment and Electric, my teal betta lives in a classy bowl :)
