keeping house chickies: yes or no?

I have a fabulous house chicken named Lola. She is a bantam Cochin. If I need to contain her poops, I use a sock diaper on her. I would recommend a bantam sized chicken as a house chicken. I have had full sized house chickens and the bantam is much easier. She goes outside with the flock sometimes, or in the front yard by herself. She is happy both indoors and out. She also enjoys rides in the car and visiting my friends kindergarten class as a chicken ambassador. I will always have a house chicken in addition to my outdoor flock.

She's just beautiful. I think banties handle confinement better than larger birds.

I don't care for cats but, I certainly wouldn't want it pooping in a litter box in the house. No wonder people just let them roam outside - and come do it in my raised flower beds.
