Keeping pekin as pets and pest control for the garden?

I probably could get a gosling, we have a lot of space. I have to bird proof one of our dogs though, he's younger and attacked our two silkies. They're okay luckily, but definitely don't want another incident like that

Our climate, the temperatures range from 40 Celsius in the summer, to -50 Celsius in the winter on a very bad year. Our chicken coop is insulated with rocksul insulation and bedded with straw for winter which was great for our guinea hens

Are khaki Campbell's also fairly friendly? Just thinking for the kids but also for optimizing "purpose". Just curious, those little call ducks look pretty darn cute

Also, what about Welsh harlequin? Some arrived at our farm store so I'm goingnto check them out, just because...lol. if they can be raised in the chicken coop then might as well see what's up lol

Pekin ducks are great pets, but are an acquired taste. They can be messy and unsanitary at times, but they can also be sweet! Just know, my Pekins have had more health issues than my Buff ducks. I'd be concerned they'd eat vegetables and plants in the garden, but this is just from watching my ducks. I believe ducks are more winter-hardy than chickens, but I live in the south.
Good luck!
