Keeping the neighbor's chickens out of my yard

You know I'm guessing that this person who is doing this is getting other neighbors upset also.

It might be easier to let them go into conflict with him first and let them handle it.

If you put resources into it, it will be time and resources you can't get back.

But nobody likes having their yard taken over by others, or their house for that matter, so its VERY very likely that others don't like this also.

Also if you run the investment expense to put up a fence there's a chance it won't work also, because they jump fences easily. My chickens jump my fence partitions literally all day to steal food from the divided flocks (the younger group especially). So you could end up being more frustrated if you spend money on it and then see them jump right over it, or flight jump it.

Nope, they can contain their dogs or there will be consequences, my dogs don’t go onto other peoples yard and cause disturbances.Any dog who strayed Into my yard was attacked by 100 pound German Shepherd and pit bull, and the dogs don’t ever return. Its a hard thing to witness but I’d rather the dog get mauled then a flock of chickens decimated, that’s my money down the drain. But since there no dogs involved and it’s chickens I would just traumatize the bird with a broom till they no longer return or use some scare tactics. Its extremely unfortunate people have to take things into their own hands.

I was commenting on similarities of logic and conflicts they imply.

Why should OP have to PAY for something he/she doesn’t really want to invest In because of someone else’s animals?

It should not be that way, but sometimes it is.

If the owners of the chickens will not keep them home, then OP only has so many choices--a fence, or training the chickens to stay away, or taking the chickens to the animal shelter, or calling someone who can enforce the existing rules about containing chickens.

(And in some US states, the laws really do permit animals to wander, and landowners have to put up their own fences to keep other people's livestock out.)
