I just put my 8 week keets outside in the coop a few days ago / I noticed one or 2 has little or no feathers under their wings when they lift them up and shake them out. Is this normal? I have 10, it’s been moderate temps, I’m in upstate NY. We’ve had rain and cooler temps 50’s/60’s at night but 70’s/80’s daytime. I haven’t investigated all of them. I previously posted on a wound and missing feathers under the wings of another one. I have no idea what happened to that one. It was suggested to put blu-kote on it and it seems to be helping but now I can see the skin seems to be peeled or flapped back from a wound on it. My neighbor thought it was mites but it’s under her wings. I’m hoping it’s not an infection of some kind and spreading in the flock . If it was pecked why or how could they have gotten just under her wings and nowhere else?? The other one (maybe more I haven’t checked) Does not have any wounds under it’s wings just no feathers. Are they still growing feathers at 8 weeks? I know they fully mature at 12-16weeks or something like that. I did start them on an organic chick starter feed bc I was told it was fine for keets. Later I learned they need a higher protein and got them a wild bird starter crumble. But I had to order it and it took a couple weeks. Once they got that they grew faster. Hoping I didn’t hinder their proper growth with the chick starter the first few weeks of life. I know there’s a lot of questions here!
