Ken had a heart attack - Meal ideas needed now!!!!

Man oh man what a day. The 20 minute angio took 2 hours - talk about biting nails!!!!! My mom came and sat with me, thinking that chattering about nothing for 2 hours was helping me

Her heart was in the right place but SHUT UP!!!!

He has a blockage right where two arteries split apart. Too sensitive of an area for a stent or angioplasty to be done through the rod. Tomorrow or Friday he will start a two day artery specific stress test. If it is negative, he can go home and stay on Plavix. If it is positive, he will need heart surgery. It is 60% blocked and 70% blocked is considered emergency.

I learned today that when a piece of cholesterol break off in the heart, all the platelets run to heal that area and that is what causes angina. Too much cholesterol (that is what a blockage is made of) and it completely blocks the artery off, causing heart attack.

Phew! Not to mention Ken is a bad patient. I can't blame him though - two days without food would make anyone cranky. When he finally ate: double bacon cheeseburger, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, 2 snickers bars and a chocolate milk shake.

Please don't mention how bad that was!!!!

Now tell him to cut back on the bad cholesterol or I'm going to show up at your house with 250 silkie roosters.

He's got a great wife.

Debi, my grandpa has heart problems, he's had a couple heart attacks, I know how scary that is, but luckily none for about 5ish?, years.


I will be keeping y'all in my thoughts, I know all will turn out well

Oh honey, I know how to do low fat without him ever having a clue. No worries there. I will start saving the 2% milk cartons to put 1% milk in...... LOL!

If Plavix can be used its a good way to go, I've been on it since March of 2008 when I had my stroke and it helps quite a bit.
