Well these drug test ok for truck driver ,or airline pilots. No lets not test them , lets the drugies fly the jet. Samething if test ok for so many why not for wefare .....no it will not hurt the poor unless the 85 yr old is a drugie

Do you understand the concept of false positive?

Yes I do and those workers have to follow the same rules. If they test positive they loose their job or have to fight the test results, right? They would be put in the same position you saying that welfare people could be with out their job no money to live. So your saying workers have to follow these rules but people that get money given to them don't have to follow these rules?

I saw a guy offer to share a joint with another guy, no sorry i get drug tested at work, yes you guess it the guy with the joint is on welfare.

Exactly! That is just what I suspect will happen, too. I don't care how many guilty people they catch, it is just not worth it for the innocent ones that will be caught up in red tape trying to prove themselves. Think about it ..... what if it happened to YOU! How would you feel? Try to explain that ! Who will really believe you? "Honestly, Mom, I have never used drugs!" All they nay-sayers that really believe these tests are 100% accurate are not gonna believe you. Nope, this is not a good thing, in my opinion.

Let quit putting people in jail , because we know some innoccent have been locked up.

Point is we need to put a stop to welfare money going to drugs , not the children who need it.

Not 100% but not far off.

As I suggested before, READ THE THREAD. The information is posted already.
It's not 100% accurate. It's not even 90%. It's more like 85%. Meaning that 15 out of every 100 people tested that are *INNOCENT* will get a "false positive". Read that again. 15 out of 100.

I ask again, do you understand the concept of false positive? Do you understand the impact of having 15 out of every 100 INNOCENT people who happen to get foodstamps or medicaid or welfare having to defend themselves AND THEIR KIDS from losing their benefits because of a FAULTY test? Do you understand that people who are SICK who need medication are the ones who are more likely to have a false positive and be least possibly capable of fighting the false positive in order to KEEP their medication? Do you understand how much resources are going to be wasted fighting these false positives that could instead be going to actually help the kids you're supposedly concerned about?

So you telling me 15 out of 100 tested are wrong......i don't believe that.....just like all those sports player that said their was false ,until their friend turn them in.

Safety to say ,how about that mother smokin up the rent money ,so the kids do without.

The difference there is that "better safe than sorry," with a jet pilot. He would be on paid leave while proving his innocence (if he is innocent). In the case of this law, I see nothing about safety being an issue, but people's lives are at risk if they have no food, no food stamps, no income.

My husband works on the Railroad. They get tested all the time, as it is a safety issue to work out there on the tracks. It is different than this law.

Home depot and Lowes employees get drug tested and they are not on paid time off while they do the investigation or while they fight the test results.

Safety? Are you serious? The kids safety is the main problem, they starve, get neglected, abused, killed and innocent people shootings, robbed, family of the drug users are very much effected in many ways and the drug users hurt themselves, od, get shot. Drugs cause a lot of things to happen. Safety is the biggest problem.

Do you understand how much is gonna be saved and make sure it goes to good use? You do understand it does not go to the kids with drug addict parents right? The kids still go without.

All we can hope for is other states pass one , enought tax dollars going to pay for drugs.

Agreed.

Happened to my son, too; it was a nightmare getting it straightened out. I don't think these tests are accurate enough to base needed assistance on them. It may be a great idea in principle, but simply not practical yet. In his case they never did figure out what was producing the false positive.
