Kentucky people

Started my new flock Friday.....have been enjoying them very much!! Although the pen and coop doors were both frozen this morning....I brought them up from Tennessee...they are wonderful birds!

Not sure if I still count here... :)

We lived in Louisville until a couple years ago - my husband still works there, but now we live out on our own acreage near Corydon, IN. (The chickens were part of why we moved - crabby neighbor made trouble :-( )

I'm looking to increase our flock a bit - prefer to buy local if I can.

Does anyone here have Ancona ducks (with all the lovely social aspects from Carol Deppe's description in "The Resilient Gardener") available? Or eggs?

I have Anconas...and I have that book. :0) I'm not in a position to ship yet because of the weather. You may find some closer though. Hopefully in a few weeks they will be ready. When I find eggs they are frozen right now. :0(. I'm in WV but I work in KY.

Oh my gracious!! Remind me to never again show my sweety what kinds of "remodling" ideas I have for the coop when its below freezing outside and sleeting and snowing!! Of course he decided that the time I showed him, would be the perfect time to do the work! BRRRRRRRR!! I thought my toes were frost bitten!!

Lol I don't complain about him not doing, cause he always does what needs to be done. I guess I was complaining a little about his timing though. Lol We have one if those weird relationship where we actually enjoy each other's company. So, I always "help", which translates into watchin and handing him things, or holding something in place on one end. LMBO! It was just SOOO cold!!!!!

I'm expecting my first chicks in the mail the last week of march! Been trying to work on the chicken coop on nice days but it doesn't look like I'll get much done this week with all the snow and ice :/
