Kentucky people

I'll be looking for you. Our son will be probably be wearing a camo large brim hat and hubby will be wearing a navy colored cap that says "White Flight Dove Farm".

If you see us, introduce yourself!

I'm not sure what I'm taking yet. Do you have an tips for getting feathers to come in faster? I have three chickens that the feathers have started coming back after being picked by other chickens. I separated them, feed a little kitten chow for extra protein, and it seems to be taking forever.

Sorry... wish I knew some feather growing techniques myself..

about the only thing to give them is time and isolation from other birds. There is a product that Matt sells called "Kickin' Chicken"

and it is supposed to assist in feather growth and get bird in condition. It is a liquid and you pour a little bit on their feed. I'm sure he'd be glad to sell you some!

Good luck!

The surgery was not as simple as the doctor thought it was going to be. I have damaged cartilage in the knee. The surgeon collected some healthy cartilage and sent it to a lab in Texas to grow more cells from it for a transplant. Even if I go along with the transplant I will probably never be able to run or play basketball , or any other high impact activity. I am thinking if he can get me walking relatively pain free again I will forget about the transplant. I see the surgeon again this Friday to discuss my options.
I will keep you updated.

Hey Wyldhorses,
I missed meeting you at Kentuckiana, Matt said you were there. Did you show any birds? They had me busy from the time I got there clerking for the Open Show judge. If you were there for the auction, we were the ones who won the beautiful duck weathervane. Sorry I missed meeting you! Maybe next time!

Hey, ChickenCop, Thanks for the additional show pics! Love the white leghorn, we had some in the show, but I don't think it was ours. I didn't get a chance to take any pics because of clerking all day (my feet and legs know it too!). Wish I would have got to meet you, Matt said you were there. Hubby put my show number on the tickets, so when she called out the number for the weathervane, I shouted, yippee and the judge looked at me like I had just crowed....ha, ha..

That bird is a Black Rosecomb, a beauty, isn't he?

As for the others:
#1: White Leghorn (that may actually be our bird)
cool.png

#2: Gray Japanese Bantam
#3: Silver Sebright
#4: Booted Non Bearded Mille Fluer
#5: Modern Game (Lemon Blue variety, maybe)
#6: Non Bearded White Cresed Blue Polish (pronounced like the Country, not the verb)
#7: Black Rosecomb
#8: Splash variety, but I'm not sure of the breed. Maybe ChickenCop, Wyldhorses or Chknbdr can help.
#9: Buff Laced Non-Bearded Polish

If I've made any mistakes in my ID's feel free to correct! Those of you who know more than I (Chknbdr....

Hello all from Lexington,
Beautiful show birds.
Does anyone know a vet (DVM) around Lexington who can inspect chickens for transport out of state say to Mo? I must have made ten phone calls and no one seemed to know anything about poultry or the requirements for taking them out of state. I've got a print out for Mo's requirements. How long would this take? How expensive would it be to get my flock inspected? I've had chickens for the past three years with few complaints, but the flock is growing.

Chickencop,

Next time you want to take pictures, just let one of us at the show know you which birds you want.
Carol, Yolanda or I can find owners for a lot of the breeds and we can use Bill Wullff's box (from Poultry Press newspaper) if he is there.

I also have a photo box that I take to the Green River Shows and Bluegrass Show. Worst case, we can find the owner and have them open the cage for pictures.

Anyway, those are some of the best in-cage pictures I have seen.

Matt
