Meri check your waterer to see if the seal got stuck in the threads...Mine did that the other day. You have to put it back up in the lid then screw the lid back on and you should be fine. If the seal is broken you can get a replacement one, but they have to be up in the lid instead of around the threads for it to work right.
If you can't sell your Spitz you can give them to Laynes school librarian. Her and her husband adore chickens, and roosters are no problem for them if they get some that don't want to fit in they take them to the farm(50 acres). They have 5 acres to range on and only thing they've lost any chickens to was an occasional hawk. They have a neighborhood dog that hangs around there and pretty much has taken it upon himself to protect their chickens on a daily basis, of course he gets rewarded for it too. The chickens have several different types of sleeping arangements. The majority of them will only sleep in the old Holly tree even through the Winter, her hubby built a ladder up into it that they use, then they have Dogloos and other housing of that type all around the property....And also an actual coop that is entered from below, in the Winter he has sides that goes around the bottom and the food is kept in it on the ground and the perches are everywhere above and in the Sumer it is open at the bottom. They also have feeders and treat bins everywhere and get pizza crust from a local pizza shop once a week. They donate it to her hubby for the chickens. I'm telling you, these chickens know they are spoiled...They love her hubby.
The one who got gravel is the one you can see from my house, Matt - neighbor for the drop and run - lives about a 1/2 mile over as the crow flies - can't see his house from here. (it is 2 miles if ya drive it.)
