Kentucky people

Well you know depending on my hatch I can help you with the Silkies. and maybe Millies if I separate them from the flock this Spring. And if you want BTB Japs I can probably separate them long enough for Terminator to fertilize little Bit

Those little silkies are so addictive!! They are just the sweetest little birds! I'm gonna need to edit that post, though. I forgot about the bantam cochins, I knew there was one I was missing! Do your japs have those real itty-bitty legs? I saw pics on here somewhere that showed them, and they said it was pics of them standing!! I have always thought they were sitting pics! I know the one little girl I gave Meri had real short legs, but I don't remember about the other ones!
I have decided to 'give in' and go with the breeds that Cris wants. Why fight it right? Plus he likes the 'different' breeds, so they should still be popular.

What color birds are your silkie eggs? You should really go to the auction with us this spring. They have had all sorts of birds there. Bantam cochins (which go VERY fast), BTW japs, silkies-mostly black though. I haven't seen any polish there, but I hadn't been going that long. In the spring there will be tons of birds, they still have the auction going right now, but there aren't many there.
I'm thinking I still want the BC Marans, but I'm not sure. I still have too many breeds for my coop design. It only has 14 cages, and 6 of those are no outdoor access. Well, 4 for sure. I could probably make the two top ones on the end with runs as well. Idk, I need to figure it out. I think I'm gonna cheat and get a shed kit to build it with. Maybe I need to have an old fashioned barn raising? I really don't want dad to help with it, he likes to do things half-backsideed. Idk, any volunteers?

Well if my eggs in the incubator hatch I'll have plenty of buff Silkies and some Mille Fluer D'Uccles to pass around. They are scheduled to hatch Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

I;ll also have some blues and blue splash silkies

Boy I got busy at work and you all really turned on. I had like 3 pages to catch up on. I know that it says on online but you guys are minimized. I check it when I get a chance. But yes Sonnys sounds wonderful sometime in January. But I will have to wait and see when I am working. My shift is sort of weird. But you guys have to wait on me.

I know someone mentioned wanting bantam cochins. Dont forget I have a trio of black bantam cochins I am needing to part with. I dont really know much about them. I got them the first of November from someone in Bourbon Co. I went after a bourbon red turkey.

All I can say is thank God I have good neighbors. My car decided to try and commit caracide this week-end and break a belt. No biggy, just have the mechanic put a new one on right? Wrong!

SO they picked up my car this morning with the tow truck and called me to say that not only did it need the belt replaced, but the water pump locked up and caused the belt to break, shot the clutch fan, and the radiator had a hole in it as well.

So it's gonna cost a little over $700.00 to get her back running again.

Yesterday my neighbor loaned me his PU to run some errands and get some food and things.

But hopefully, once this is fixed I can do some road trips and visit people again!

Anyway, you might also want to check with Flowerpot regarding bantams as she is taking 15 of my new chicks arriving this week and is replacing her bantams with the standards I have coming in.

And Hopefully the 31 eggs in the incubator will hatch out. I have a couple of black silkie eggs, a couple of white silkie eggs, some blue splash and blue silkie eggs. and 8 Mille Fluer D'Uccle eggs in there.

Yeah, that was me about the bantam cochins

I don't have any place to put new birds right now. All my chickens free range atm, and they don't have a coop. If I brought more roos in right now, I'm sure there would be trouble. I have enough bloody combs as it is!!

FrChuckW: FLOWERPOT was supposed to get back with me with some pics, but she hasn't yet. I really am looking for eggs or chicks right now. I have a brooder that is almost empty, as soon as I get the chicks out of it. They're about 3 months old, the majority anyway, so I'll have plenty of room for babies.

Is that the neighbor I suggested you do the drop and run at with the spare male Cochin?

No different neighbor

The one who got gravel is the one you can see from my house, Matt - neighbor for the drop and run - lives about a 1/2 mile over as the crow flies - can't see his house from here. (it is 2 miles if ya drive it.)

So... the fan broke on my hatcher (old fan, cheap thing) so I put the orp eggs back into the bator to hatch, and I have the cochin eggs in the hatcher to keep em from drowning until the orps come out of the bator.

I need one of those nice fans like Shelley has

I am thinking that all I need right now (egg/chicken - wise ) are Delaware eggs. I would also be interested in some White Rocks.
I really love the Delaware Roo I got from Cindy - he is so pretty, and so HUGE!

Chickaboom (that first chick hatched) is definately a roo, and he is due for the stew pot once he is old enough. He is only, what, three or four weeks old and he is so aggressive already!! He bullies the other chicks, and when I look in, he "plays" by jumping up at my face through the screen

. The RIR I am pretty sure is also a roo, but he is a lot more low key. I need to get new pics, cause those Cochins are really looking fluffy and pretty. I am almost positive I have a roo and two hens out of the cochins (yay!!!) The roo is a reddish one, and the others, a reddish and a black/red are hens.

My big waterer in the banty coop took a dump on me - the seal stretched because of freezing or something, and it leaks all the water out the hole. I'll have to fix it tomorrow, they've got water for tonight, so I'm not messing with it tonight. I paid 35 bucks for that thing, and have only had it since this summer, and it already is trash!! I'll never buy another one like that again. It's a nice one, too, I thought - is 5 gallons, plastic. I'll have to find another waterer besides the gallon sized ones - if I use those I'll have to put two or three of them in there at a time.

I have dinner mostly done, so I got time to just kick back. I put that roast in, it's cooked, so I got it turned on low to tenderize a bit. I have the tongue done, too. I tasted it - turned out good - I may be the only one who'll eat it, but I don't care, I love cow's tongue.

Jon is on until "?" tomorrow night - I hope he is out at 7:30 like he usually is when he doesn't have a "out" time, because I HAVE to watch CSI tomorrow night - it's the one where Grissom quits. They're bringing in Lawrence Fishburne to replace him - that should make things interesting

.

They're gonna teach him to open the restaurant . That kid is ignorant if he moves to Michigan - he has it pretty good here. Has a job (which he probably won't have up there) has money in the bank, I promised him a car when he gets his license (his graduation present) and he has a place to live - rent free at the moment, although if he stays I'll charge him some rent, but still, cheaper than moving up there. They love him at his job, if he moves he'll have to start over and not be sure of having a job from one week to the next because it is so bad.

I heard today on the news that even the illegal Mexicans are moving back to Mexico because they can't get jobs - now THAT is bad
