Cows tongue boiled and seasoned is really good wrapped in flour tortillas from what I remember ...I was a kid when I had it don't remember the flavor but remember that I kept asking for more. Then afterward they told me what it was...Didn't bother me though. I'll try almost anything once. Asked my moms best friend once if I could have a squirrel to fry up so I can taste it, she asked if I wanted one with or without the brain

Like I said "almost anything" not the brain though.

If I can get by this winter, I need to figure out a new set-up for keeping the donkey's out of the chicken coop.

They are really causing problems down there - mostly Maggie and Nibbler - those two are pigs!!

I am thinking perhaps a small fence that runs the length of the coop, just enough to keep them away from the doors, so I can open the doors and not have to worry about them getting past my donkey deterents.

They got done eating their own breakfast this morning, and poor Miss Celie was trying to lay an egg and I walk down there and the two of them have their heads stuck into the coop over the donkey barrier, watching her (wanting the food dish in there), and Miss Celie is freaking out squawking and flapping around

.

Those two are so naughty!!

Definitely. After the 1st of the year we will have to be sure and set that up.

Sounds good...What kind of food do you like...I'll eat anyplace we have here. Except King buffet, as much as I love that place it gives me a belly ache. But I absolutely love their seafood casserole...Gonna have to make my own one day.

Soo, day 19 - got the eggs in the hatcher, and it is holding temps a lot more reasonably since the eggs are in it.
Instead of going from 95 to 105 it is staying between 98 and 101 (will hit 102 for a couple seconds, after the light goes out, but not long enough to matter)

I can't wait til they start hatching

Buff Orp babies to play with!!

Now I just need some Delaware eggs.

and a bigger hatching room

You should have hubby put a split rail fence or the like about 4 feet from the coops doors, and run you a gravel walkway along the front of the coops...It would look really nice and you wouldn't slide down the hill...I don't know, your walk area may not be as slick as mine gets.

That sounds good, I do need gravel down there, it is already getting slick and the real winter rain hasn't even started yet. I was trying to think of what I could put on that slope without having to build a sidewalk or something.

Maybe a regular fence, though, instead of the split rail - somethign sturdy to grab onto when my feet go flying out from under me

I think that is a wonderful idea, less chance of being tempted to buy something that way....We can just have all of the surrounding BYC addicts in here meet at Sonny's bbq or someplace like that and we can have a round table discussion about chickens and families.

Well now I have the image of you sliding down the hill on your rear...

Got a creek nearby? Get creekrock and lay it down then fill in the spaces with sand or fine gravel.
