The movie Grinch was on - but I boycott that one (hubby has it on, I can hear it playing in the other room.) Didn't know if any others were on - I was doing other stuff.

I think that Brahma hen looks like an Eleanor - that name sounds a little regal, but not too high brow. Sort of like the reigning queen who will knock you on your butt if ya mess with her

The white rocks all look alike to me (once their feathers are all in). The rir is a bit of a wuss - she spends a lot of time hiding under Speckles and getting in his way. I guess she is the odd hen out

being Red and all.

Other than Chickaboom (who is due for the stewpot when he is big enough) I haven't named any of the new chicks at all. The orps are too young to tell if they are hens or roos or one of each.

The cochins I ought to name, at least - one of them looks like a robin (the bird) but I hate the name Robin (knew a chick named Robin - she was a... umm... loose woman, so to speak.) Oh well, I got time on them, they are still young (and spazzy).

Well, I think the new girls can't believe their luck - they are digging on the fresh hay in the nest boxes and the shavings on the floor - it is dry, and reasonably clean (for a hen house). And, they've only got ONE roo to deal with
lau.gif
they must think they've died and gone to Chicken heaven. They're settling in really well.

I know the cartoon version of cat in the hat was on, and there were one or two others that were on the same channel that 'The Grinch' was on. They showed that movie twice in a row, and the cartoony ones were on before the first one.

I like the cartoons, don't care for the Jim Carey movie.

I had a few of the cartoons on tape, not sure if I still have them or not. Have you ever seen The Butter Battle Book? it's about governments and how they keep building bigger and deadlier weapons until they are at a standstill, and everyone has to move underground to save themselves. The original fight is whether bread ought to be eaten butter side up or butter side down.

For the books, I also like "Marvin K. Mooney Will You Please Go NOW!!"

I love Dr. Seuss.

Hmmm...can we guess what Cristian's favorite book is?? Horton hears a who of course!! We have a small collection. We read one not too long ago that was pretty good, but right now I can't remember which one it was.

But yeah those girls are probably loving it at your place! They better be glad they are girls, or they wouldn't be so happy!

Cindy has abandoned us since she came to visit hasn't she? I haven't seen her on here since! I'm thinking I'm gonna go to bed now, so I'll talk to you all tomorrow.

Countdown to baby ducks....5 days!!!

it's almost Christmas, girl, give her a break

She's probably running around like a chicken with its head cut off

I know after today I'm gonna be busy. At least this weekend I will be.
I am not looking forward to that drive to E-town, they changed the forecast yet again - now they're saying the high winds from the west, temps dumping to 31 and snow. That is not gonna be a fun drive.

I'd love to have a white Christmas, but can't it wait til after I get HOME on sunday to begin???? I don't even mind driving in the snow, that's nothing- snow shmow - it's the rain beforehand, then the temp dump and wind - gonna make Ice out there. I hate ice.

I let the chickens out today. If they were smart they'd stay down back in the pasture, they've got protection from the wind down there, but no - they are up in the front yard, hiding in the garage and running around like idiots. I figure if it does get bad this weekend, they may get stuck inside, so why not let them out today.

The two goonies I got left are losing their minds, wondering what happened to the other three. They keep running over to the banty run and looking in to see if they are still in there. I'd feel sorry for them, but that Donna Lou (very loud guinea hen, named her after my mom
gig.gif
) is a witch - she still is bothering the fat girls (my BA's the EE and Spazz), and I was hoping if I took three away the other two might settle down a bit.

Oh well, maybe a coon will eat her

It seems the only time my guineas really pay attention to the chickens is when I feed them in the mornings. Other than that the guineas do their thing and the chickens do theirs. But they were really being jerks this morning! If I could catch them they'd probably be dinner!

That's one thing I hate about it here. I don't mind the snow, I just hate the ice. That's usually what we get, or that with snow on top. I've never driven in the snow down here, so that would be interesting. I've been lucky enough to have my license be suspended every time I've lived here, except the first, and then I moved back to IN in the middle of Dec, so we hadn't had snow yet. I'm scared to actually. It was bad enough driving in the snow in IN, where it was all flat, but down here? I have enough stress driving on wet roads here!

I used to drive semi trucks coast to coast, so bad roads don't bother me as much - but I really hate ice.

I was once climbing a mountain out west and as I was nearing the top, the trailer "wiggled" on me just enough to make me nearly wet my pants
lau.gif
. I had visions of jack-knifing and ending up in a fireball at the bottom of the mountain.

Snow doesn't bother me at all - ice is scary, especially if you can't really see the ice.

I just went in to check on the chicks, that one reddish cochin girl is really looking pretty. She's getting more of a cochin head and face than a "generic chick" face and head. I need to get some updated pics of them.

The SLW is starting to look more like a SLW, too.

Did I mention that as soon as these guys have enough feathers they are going into the bantam cochin cell? I've only got the three banty cochins in that coop, so these guys should fit ok in there - at least temporarily. They'll be 5 weeks old tomorrow, so I have to keep em inside a bit longer.

It mostly depends on what the weather does after New Years. I may have to beef up the coop and put them out earlier if I can't stand them in the house any longer.

Best coop to put them in the banty coop, but I am still watching that coop - and not gonna add anyone into it just yet.
