sure thing.

If I haven't gotten an answer (since she's gone) by tomorrow morning, I'll just call her.

I had thought about just paypal-ing her the money, but that doesn't help much, either, since she can't draw it out of paypal right away, I don't think, unless she has a paypal debit card, then she could do that. Otherwise she'd have to wait for it to go to her bank account - which takes forever.

I hated to ask, but I had to ask

It's cool if she doesn't want to, I wouldn't blame her

she's just too nice for her own good.

eta - if she weren't going until sometime next week, I could probably go along, on Jon's day off - but I don't know which day he'll have off until Sunday when he gets the new schedule.

Hey all...Yes I'm up late...Laynes friend is spending the night and he sleeps on the sofa and won't go to sleep if he thinks I won't stay down there with him so had to sit down there til he went to sleep. Guess I missed you all tonight. I'll see what I can do as far as being able to get all the chickens(room is the problem)...Guess I'll have to spend tomorrow putting that coop together so they all have a place to sleep...I'm already using the cage I have in the main coop for some chicks I just kicked out of the brooder...They were hitting their heads on the element cage covering the heat bar. They'll all have to be in the same coop/run til you come get them so it will be a few weeks before anyone gets pure eggs again after you get your birds, sorry. I'll need you to PM me the totals of each of your birds so I know how much to take with me.

Oh yeah and Meri, you probably already have eggs fertilized by Speckles...Splat was only in the cage for 3 days with this white Cochin and I'm thinking the babies are his...There just isn't enough feathers on the legs to warrant them being pure, especially since the parent birds had some full feathered legs in the coop she came from. And I witnessed at least one breeding...The only eggs I hatched of her were from when she was in the cage.

Who is Kentucky Momma? A neighbor? Yay another friend to enable!!

ETA: Have you warned her about us all yet?

ETA Again: Tell her Bluedog420 still had a pair of Silver and a trio of golden Sebrights as of last night...Reasonable, and he has nice healthy birds.

I got off early, cause Hubby wanted the computer, and I wanted to see Alton Brown make Coq au Vin

the rooster he had on there in a cage (some game breed) kept crowing and making noise all through it. The dish looked yummy, but expensive for one dish, sheesh, by the time ya buy two bottles of decent wine, and everything else ya need for it, you may as well go out for dinner.

I was thinking of hatching some of Speckle's cell eggs maybe next month. That way I'll have a few to get my "fix" while I'm waiting on the other babies. Maybe, if I can figure out a date for the other babies coming, I'll try to coordinate it so they are all the same age, and I can just lump them all together. I ought to really deep down clean that room before hatching any more anyway

btw - I don't know if I told ya all.....

Those guineas I sold, well, they are all either dead and/or gone. The guy had a dog kennel fixed up for them, with a roof over over it (not sure if it was a tarp or what) and the night after I gave him the last two, a couple of pups got into the kennel somehow and killed three, two flew up into a tree to escape, and haven't been seen since the following morning.

I have no idea how the dogs got into the kennel, maybe they dug under. That's a shame

Poor guy spent all that money and his birds are gone already. I imagine the two that got away were the pair that I had a hard time catching - they were "smarter" than the other ones (if a guinea can be called "smart".) They may come back to his place, but I doubt it, since they were new to his farm, and were used to our farm.

I'm glad my dogs are good with the chickens.

I hope for your sake the guys place is not too close. The guineas might find their way back!

Oh and I guess the 'each of your birds' part meant me too? I hope so! I'll let you know Cindy. If you can't get them that's all right.

My two pairs will have to be together until I can build another tractor anyway, so they'll have mixed eggs for a while. Maybe I'll get some milie cochins out of them? That would be cool!

I need to go back to town and get some more chicken wire. I just got some hardware cloth yesterday to make a cage for the baby quail.

Well, hubby has gone with Roger to take his car in to be fixed - he could have TOLD me that he didn't need ME to do it!!!!

Men!

I could be at Cindy's right now getting those birds

I'm sorry, Cindy, that my husband is such a pudding head sometimes.

He got up today at about 11:00 and I ask, "are we gonna take the car in now?" he says, "Roger ought to be here anytime, he's gonna follow me there and bring me home."

I just gave him the stinkeye - he knew I had other plans if he didn't need me.

I think he just doesn't want me to buy more birds. I mean, he wants the layers/dual purpose, he doesn't think I need more bantys.

ggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I got the two black cochin pullets. I'll have quite a decent flock of bantam cochins, once they get here. I have a mottled roo, a mottled hen, and two black girls, plus Hoss (columbian buff roo - we figure). That will give me two more black girls. so two roos and 5 hens. That's one extra roo, but ya never know, I may hatch out some more girls for the extra roo to dance with.

I'm getting a half a pig tuesday, Roger bought one, and he's gonna split it with us. (Now I just need to get me some feeder pigs to raise). But, he said the people who had the pig have some hens that look like Delawares for sale, so he's gonna take me over to see if they are and maybe I'll buy some of those, too - if they ARE Delawares. Never hurts to have some laying already, plus the chicks I'll order.

We're going over Tuesday to pick up the pig and look at the chickens.

Turns out the guy who bought my guineas owns the meat processing place we took the cow to. (I didn't know who actually bought them, Roger took them to him and brought me the money).

Roger had a thought as to how the guineas got caught by those dogs, and he's probably right....

The guineas were used to my dogs, who aren't a threat at all to the chickens and guineas. When those other dogs got into the pen, they probably didn't react fast enough to get away. Heck, my dogs sleep in the middle of a pile of chickens, and everyone is happy. Yesterday Toby was eating some treats and two hens came over and took some of his food right by him, he just looked at them, didn't growl or bark and snap at all. The chickens know the dogs protect them so they aren't afraid.

I feel badly that the guy lost the guineas (and his money) in the space of four days.

I'm supposed to be getting the mottled pair, and the millie pair, if Cindy will pick them up for me

My silkie eggs didn't come today. I talked to the mailman, and he asked what I wanted to do with future packages. I told him I had wanted them held at the P.O., and for me to be called to come get them, but the postmaster said they didn't do that. The mailman said, 'Oh yeah, that's fine, I can do that'...????....Now was that so hard? If they would have done that to begin with, my ameracaunas eggs would not have been stolen!
