I've been wanting some to raise/breed for meat (although hubby just informed me to go ahead, but he won't eat them

silly man).
He and his brother and dad used to hunt quail - but they never ate them, so he has no idea what they taste like - I don't either, but I'm willing to try them!!! Sometimes I just do not understand that man's eating habits. (btw, they didn't go to waste, they gave them to their neighbors).

This is the same man who says how good my chinese food smells (when I have chinese food at home) but he won't touch the stuff. I wonder how I can trick him into eating some quail meat....

If I get the kids to try it and they like it, I might talk him into it.

eta - I may buy more from ya further down the line, if I can talk the guys into eating them, too. I'll just start with the 6 for now, though.

My best recipe for quail is to beer batter fried in peanut oil. A close second is what i fixed yesterday. marinate quail in a mixture of 1/2 Oj 1/2wine with poultry seasoning for 4 hrs then crock pot all of it for 3 hrs on low. Only extra thing i would tell you what out for the small bone. but its worth it. as in yummie

I'll have to look for some more recipes - those sound good. I know Alton Brown just takes out the backbone and flattens them out and grills them.

Marinade might definately be in order, though.
